Brick Floor Mudroom

Brick Mudroom Floors
CH Design and InteriorsThe modern family friendly mudroom is clad in herringbone brick floor tiles set under a brass umbrella stand set alongside a white freestanding bench set under oil rubbed bronze coat hooks mounted on a plank and slat wall beneath a window.
Yes, it's faux brick, porcelain tile, not thin brick veneer or solid brick and mortar. We've since repainted the bench in Ben Moore White Dove (after cutting out the arches underneath, freeing us up for larger baskets to store shoes etc). The floor and the front bench:
We've used this type of product in homes before, and it's always been a winner. We used a grayer version in this mudroom we did with Haven Builders - the spacing is tighter and with matching grout to make it more subtle:
We're using the same tiles as in my mudroom in this mudroom makeover we're doing now too...but with a more prominent border layout. Here's the plan for this space - throw pillows, a cafe curtain (guys, they're coming back) and plenty of hooks and baskets. A few more brick tiles, both porcelain and real, for the floors:
This is the one I've seen a lot:
Simple porcelain stoneware tiles
Reclaimed thin brick veneer
Herringbone Veneer Thin Brick
Another thin brick veneer:

An Insanely Easy Way To Get An Antique Brick Floor
Always in style and incredibly durable, brick floors are a perennial favorite, not just for patios, but in any interior space where durability is key (think mudrooms, kitchens, etc.). Just ask House Beautiful contributor Eddie Ross, who found out for himself when he decided to put antique bricks in the mudroom of his Pennsylvania home, Edgewood Hall. "If you're building from scratch, that's fine, but there are a lot of complications if you want to add brick floors to an existing room," says Ross. "The subfloor needs to be strong enough to support all that weight, and even if it is, the finished floor will end up being much higher due to the depth of the solid bricks." The company specializes in a system of brick veneer pavers – essentially thin slices of actual brick – that can be installed like tiles over any existing floor, no mason required. An ordinary tiler will do just fine, says Ross; according to the company, it's even do-it-yourself possible for most homeowners. Because he wanted the look of antique brick in his mudroom, Ross chose Brick It's New York Used Pavers, which are cut from reclaimed bricks — some 250 years old — salvaged from demolished buildings across the city. Eddie RossUsed pavers cost around $9 per square foot; Brick It recommends purchasing approximately 10% more than the project size, as some tiles may arrive broken.
